Visiting Weinfelden

The village Weinfelden is located in the heart of the Thurgau in a countryside with rolling hills at the passage of the Thur valley and the Ottenberg.
Emblem and name of the town indicate clearly: We are growing, cultivating and enjoying wine here. The Weinfelden wines are famous way beyond the cantonal borders.
There is, however, a small downer: linguistically spoken, the origin of the name does not come from wine growing, but from «Wini’s meadow», a reference to a Teutonic name.
But no matter what: with vineyards covering approximately 4'530 Ares, wine growing is very important in this town.
